The past weekend

This weekend was amazing! Saturday we went to the Grand Le Fleur, which is the hospital ball. I was so excited, but nervous for some reason. It's been a long time since I went to something like this and so I borrowed my sisters dress from her junior prom and was on my way. We were sure it was going to be fun, but my Grandma Cheryl bought me the tickets so I figured I would try it out because people are always raving about it.

Shane and I showed up a little earlier than everyone else and for a bit it was awkward so we walked around looking at the silent auction stuff, they had some pretty neat stuff but we chose not to bid on anything although I know he really wanted to! We waited for the rest of our crew to show up (my dad was fashionably late haha) and once they all got there we ventured to the open bar. I'm kind of a baby about drinks, I don't know what anything is called or what does and doesn't taste good. So our friend Bryan Van Buren was working and he made me what I think was a white russian but not sure. Well that was a bit too sweet so when I went back I saw a lady get a Cape Cod (or so that's what we think it is) and that's what I stuck with for the rest of the night. We had a great three course dinner that started with a mixed green salad with grilled pears, pine nuts, bleu cheese (which I set off to the side), and green apples. Then for the main course we had filet minon, halibut, twice baked potatoes, and grilled asparagus. By the time dessert came I was so stuffed I didn't even eat half of the dessert!

Maybe it wasn't so much that I was full but more that we wanted to dance. The band was awesome they played everything from jazz, to 80's, to the classic party songs (I Like Big Butts, Play that Funky Music, etc.) to Black Eyed Peas. We danced for a good 3 or 4 hours stopping only to refill our alcohol (gotta take advantage of that open bar), one in the morning rolled around and the band stopped playing. We rounded up our stuff, headed out with a center piece and fell asleep around 2 a.m.

Before we realized how late we were going to be out, Shane and I made plans to go to Fort Collins for my mini shopping spree he was taking me on as a reward for my 4.0. I woke up at what seemed to be 7:30 still feeling a little tipsy and decided it would probably be best to close my eyes again lol. Around 9 I was feeling much better and got up, I immediately took some ibuprofen and drank a glass of water to avoid what was possibly to come. Luckily nothing bad happened. By 10:20 we were on our way to Fort Collins. We started by heading to TJ Maxx but found that there was a Platos Closet right next door. I've never been there but my mom always ravs about them so I decided to start there. At this store I found 2 pairs of jeans and a shirt. Good thing we stopped there because my main purpose was jeans and that's the only place I found good ones. At TJ Maxx we ran into Sandi and Katie we stayed hi and looked for more clothes. Here I found a way cute dress that is really cool because you can wear it more than one way and it is my favorite color green. Shane picked it out! I also left with a cute black shirt and two pairs of yoga pants (which I threw away 3 pairs of sweat pants for). At TJ Maxx we also found a set of 12 glasses, a silverware set, and a clock for our kitchen. Next we headed to Ross where I found a pair of brown shorts, a pair of work pants, and two REALLY cute shirts! We ate lunch at Olive Garden because at this point we were both starving then headed to Lowes and Home Depot for fencing supplies and a new tree (a weeping cherry tree). I have to say I've got one good boyfriend who spoiled the heck out of me!!!!

  1. My hubby is a handsome and talented bar tender, eh? He keeps saying one of these years we will attend the ball rather than him working it... we'll see. Glad you had a great weekend!!!

About Me

My photo
I'm a pretty simple person. I am very much hometown and would rather spend a good night with my family, boyfriend, or dog than go out and do "the college thing." I love the summer time, camping, fishing, and the sun in general. I work at the only bridal shop in town which is fabulous (my mom's word totally). I want so badly to be done with college which you will probably figure out and love my family, dog, and boyfriend more than anything.
